Subject Leader - Mrs C Shaw

The Subject Area is committed to bringing History alive.  Students learn through a variety of methods including drama, video, history games and writing about the past in innovative and interesting ways.

We aim to challenge students to think critically and imaginatively, and to express themselves using a range of techniques.  As a Subject Area we provide access and challenge for pupils of all abilities.
In addition to increasing their knowledge and understanding of historical ideas, we aim to develop moral sensitivity and cultural awareness. In 2006 GCSE results in History reached 82% A*-C, with the majority of students achieving or exceeding their predicted grades.  As a Subject Area, we aim to maintain the high standards of effort and behaviour expected of students, whilst ensuring that history is fun and accessible to all.
