Events: (past / present / future)
The Religious Studies Subject Area organises special events both in and outside the classroom. In Year 7, students visit St. Nicholas' Church. Year 8 take part in an inter faith day organised with other schools across Warwickshire. Future trips include visiting the Gurdwara (Sikh Temple) and a Hindu Temple.
What we Offer:
Religious Studies is a subject which enables students to learn about the values and belief systems of others while, at the same time, encouraging them to develop their own beliefs and values.
In Years 7 and 8 Religious Studies is concerned with asking the question what it means to be a person and allows students to become acquainted with the beliefs, practices and customs of the major world religions, especially Christianity. We have shortened Key Stage 3 to two years, allowing for more time to concentrate on the GCSE course.
In Years 9 and 10 students follow a short course GCSE in Religious Studies, studying Philosophy and Ethics from a Christian Perspective. Students can also opt to study the full course GCSE in Religious Studies.
Student Information:
P2L is set each term in Religious Studies. The details of this will be given at the start of each term and will also be displayed in the classroom and on the Etone Website.
Homework is set weekly in Years 9 and 10. The homework can be a written task, reading or revision.
Students are encouraged to participate in lessons and enjoy role play, discussion work and group work.
Each student's beliefs are considered equally important whether they are of a religious, humanist or atheist nature. The Subject Area prides itself on teaching tolerance and respect by learning about and from religion.
After School / Extra Curricular:
Help is available for all Religious Studies students in Room T22. A Humanities Extra Curricular timetable gives times and dates.
GCSE revision sessions are run after school. Students are given an individual timetable for this and this is also displayed in the classroom.
