ART @ Etone College

Art at Etone presents a lively and energetic image you will see many exciting displays around the school within the classrooms, corridors and the restaurant. These show the diversity of the work being produced and how much talent our students have.

COMPETITION WINNERS

Special mention should go to the yr 11 students who entered N.W.H.C. end of year show. The winner of the Fine Art competition was Rosanna Newcombe and the winner of the photography competition was Olivia Smith.

Commendations were given specially to Hannah Pywell and Emilie Wilkinson. Look out for their display!

ART Outside Etone

We are regularly involved in offering students an opportunity to work with other artists. This year students will be involved in a workshop at the Liverpool Tate Gallery led by a local artist. The students will be able to understand and ask questions about the artworks, as well as develop a piece of work whilst in the gallery.

We also run a Summer School, last year participants could come and learn to play the steel pans and develop their art skills whilst building a sculpture from willow. The week long project had an environmental theme, where each participant built their own sculptural version of planet earth.

ART and DESIGN: GCSE RESULTS

We are very pleased with our results this year, several students gained double awards in GCSE Vocational Art & Design at grade C and above, 71% gained C grades and above at G.C.S.E. and all students who took their A/S a year early were successful in passing the exam. Their work can be seen around the school and in the flexible learning centre. WELL DONE!!!!

ARTS MARK:

We are proud to say The Arts at Etone, which include Art, Music and Drama have received national recognition with an Artsmark Silver Award for our creativity, variety of curriculum and range of courses and exam successes. We regularly take part in workshops provided by the Intercultural Support Services at Warwickshire, learning from different cultures, for example creating masks and Chinese flags using inks. In addition we have taken part in a day long drawing workshop at King Edwards Sixth Form College, this was for students who want to take art at Advanced Level. Several of our students have gone on to study art on Full time courses at our local Sixth Form Colleges, and universities.
