All Students study Religious Studies at GCSE level. The Religious Studies GCSE short course is started in Year 9 and the exam is taken during May/June of Year 10. There is also the option to increase the amount of Religious Studies and opt to do the full course GCSE instead.
The course consists of two papers:
Christian Perspectives on Personal, Social and World Issues
and
Islam.
Each paper is assessed by a 1 hour exam.
Lessons include a range of teaching and learning styles. The course includes a large amount of discussion work and students are encouraged to share opinions. Most students will also visit a mosque as part of their studies.
NB The RS examination is taken at the end of Year 10 and is usually set on a Friday at the end of May. You are asked not to arrange holidays during this time!
