Citizenship studies is a new and exciting subject on the school curriculum. It includes the study of people, communities and organisations which all work together to make the world harmonious.

All students study Citizenship Studies at GCSE level. The Citizenship Studies short course is started in Year 11 and the examination is taken during May/June of Year 11.

The short course consists of 1 paper: 60% (1 hour and 30 mins) and 1 piece of coursework: 40%

Lessons include a range of teaching and learning styles. The course includes a large amount of discussion work and students are encouraged to share opinions.

The coursework is based around a citizenship activity where you work as a group to benefit and help others. This can be a community or schools based project. Most events take place during Year 11 Citizenship week held in October.
